The Labyrinth
After 13 months, and 464,363 words later, I have completed the manuscript Waterfalls.
The writing process was a rewarding one. It made me review various perspectives in my life and reevaluate not only myself, but the world around me. It is also satisfying in that I feel I have something to leave behind for friends and family.
I still do not have any intent to publish it. Maybe I’ll rethink that in the future, but I doubt it. Publication was never the goal. This was a personal challenge to preserve life’s trail – for all its maze-like twists, turns, and dead ends. None of us simply arrive at the present – it was our journeys through the Labyrinth of life that got us to this point, and the path never stops until the ultimate end. I believe I have now completed that original challenge, having arrived at a logical break.
Will I write more full length manuscripts in the future? Probably, but the most important part of writing is to stop when you no longer have anything else to say. That is the point I’ve reached now, but like the journey through the Labyrinth it’s merely a pause; not an ending.
